About Redfree
Redfree was developed by the cooperative breeding program of Purdue, Rutgers, and the University of Illinois Agricultural Experiment Stations, introduced in Lafayette, Indiana in 1981 as a disease-resistant summer apple. It is part of the program's second wave of scab-resistant releases. Recommended for Georgia growing zones 1, 2, and 3, it ripens about six weeks before Delicious into a crisp, juicy, russet-free fruit.
