About Stayman
Stayman originated in 1886 when Dr. J. Stayman of Leavenworth, Kansas noticed a seedling of a winesap apple that produced fruit he deemed superior to other winesaps. Recommended for Georgia growing zones 1 and 2, it is a superb quality, tart, all-purpose apple with a rusty red finish, ripening in early October; fruit cracking can be a problem when a dry period is followed by a rainy one.
