About Trapp
'Trapp' originated in 1894 on the place of H.R. Trapp in Coconut Grove, Florida (Miami); it fruited in 1898 and was first propagated in 1901. It was the only avocado planted extensively in Florida before the introduction of Guatemalan varieties, and it was the dominant commercial variety for 30 years and on the recommended list for 40 years, despite a tendency to overbloom and bear lightly in some years. It is now a minor commercial cultivar in Florida.
