About Olivier
'Olivier' is a Brazilian acerola clone conserved in the active germplasm bank of the Polo Regional Alta Paulista of APTA, the Sao Paulo Agency for Agribusiness Technology, at Adamantina in western Sao Paulo state. In a 2018-19 comparative trial of seven clones grown side by side in the Alta Paulista region it was the standout performer, combining good fruit yield with suitable physical and chemical characteristics and easy manual harvesting. Researchers named it the first choice among the clones recommended for the agro-industrial market and, together with 'BRS 237 Roxinha', one of the two clones most suitable for fresh consumption, which is an unusual double recommendation. Tellingly, it already made up a greater proportion of the commercial orchard being studied than any other clone, so growers had reached the same conclusion independently. It is one of the most widely planted acerola clones in Sao Paulo state.
