Aroma II

Aroma 2 is the flagship Genovese-type basil from Genesis Seeds, an Israeli organic seed breeder, and it has become one of the standard organic Genovese offerings in North America, carried by Johnny's, High Mowing and Territorial among others. Genesis bred it for commercial cut-and-come-again production: resistance to Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. basilici, a slow bolt, and a plant that keeps producing across repeated cuttings rather than peaking once. Its second selling point is behaviour in difficult conditions, and it is the Genovese growers reach for under glass during low-light, cooler stretches when ordinary sweet basil sulks. It also performs well hydroponically and in containers, which is why it shows up in year-round protected-culture rotations.
