About Bohan
Bohan is an F1 hybrid red beet from the Dutch breeder Bejo, developed for the conditions that knock other beets back rather than for the show bench. Bejo describes it as bred for the wet season, heat tolerant and strong against soilborne disease, and the mechanism it points growers to is an unusually large taproot that pulls nutrients from deeper in the profile and keeps the plant moving in waterlogged or low-fertility ground. Osborne Seed calls it stress tolerant with excellent adaptability and a sound choice for late-season production; Territorial rates it particularly well suited to Pacific Northwest gardens; Jung sums it up as a variety that adapts to both wet and poor soils with ease. It is a workhorse field beet, not a coloured novelty or a gourmet type.
