About Boro
Boro is an F1 round red beet from the Dutch breeding house Bejo Zaden, and it has become a default workhorse in North American market gardens. Johnny's and High Mowing both list it at roughly 50 days from direct seeding, fast for a beet that still eats well at full size. Its selling point is harvest range rather than any single trait: the same bed can be pulled for baby beets, bunched at two to three inches, or left to size up to six inches without going woody. Bejo rates it as widely adapted and specifically suited to warmer, humid conditions, which is unusual praise for a crop that generally sulks in heat. Its commercial standing is measurable in its offspring, since Bresko is sold explicitly as an improved Boro type.
