Garden Rainbow Organic

'Garden Rainbow' is Renee's Garden's certified-organic multicoloured chard, sold under that exact name and described by the company as a long-standing heirloom. Like Fordhook Giant it is a leaf beet grown for stems and foliage rather than a swollen root. What sets it apart from the plain green-and-white chards is stem colour: a single planting throws red, pink, white and gold stalks beneath uniformly green leaves, which is why it tends to get planted in ornamental borders and potagers as much as in vegetable rows. Renee's positions it as a long-season cut-and-come-again crop rather than a one-shot harvest, and it is offered organically grown, which matters to growers who need certified seed for their own organic certification.
