About White Queen
White Queen is the albino counterpart to the blue butterfly peas: a snow-white, double-petalled vine that Baker Creek's catalog copy describes as a rare, extra-fancy big Thai selection. The trade-off is the detail every buyer needs up front -- no blue anthocyanin means no colour-changing tea. Morning Chores states it plainly: White Queen will not dye anything. The flowers are still edible and still brew the mild infusion butterfly pea is drunk for, but the lemon-juice colour flip belongs to the blue types alone. What remains is an ornamental and culinary-garnish case: large layered white blooms on a twining legume, striking against the vine's dark pinnate foliage, and good scattered over salads or floated on a drink. Many growers run it alongside a blue selection so they get both the pigment and the contrast.
