About TCS 19

TCS 19 (Theobroma Corpoica La Suiza 19) is a self-compatible cacao clone offered by AGROSAVIA that can be grown in single-clone plantings. The breeder reports first production from about 20 months after field establishment with suitable management and fertilization. Its small canopy facilitates pruning; an average height of 2.98 m was reported with two prunings annually. Pods are about 23 by 10 cm, changing from red when immature to orange when ripe, with an average of 39 seeds. The sensory profile combines cocoa with red-fruit, floral and dairy notes. Colombian evaluations recorded frosty-pod losses and isolated witches-broom outbreaks managed during pruning, so disease management remains necessary.
