About Chinese toon
Toona, a genus in the mahogany family (Meliaceae), encompasses a group of deciduous trees native to a vast region stretching from Afghanistan and India to eastern Australia. Commonly known as toon, Chinese toon, or redcedar, these trees are valued for their timber and, in some cases, their edible leaves. The most well-known species is Toona sinensis, or Chinese toon, which is cultivated for both its wood and its young leaves, which are a popular vegetable in Chinese cuisine.
