About SL34
SL34 is an Arabica coffee selection made by Scott Agricultural Laboratories in Kenya in the late 1930s. It is tall, with large beans and usually dark-bronze shoot tips; older primary branches tend to droop. World Coffee Research describes adaptation to high-altitude areas with good rainfall, exceptional high-altitude cup-quality potential, medium yield potential and first production in year three. It is susceptible to coffee leaf rust, coffee berry disease and nematodes. Genetic evidence places it near Typica, despite a historical account linking the selected tree to French Mission coffee.
