Green Envy

Green Envy is an unusual purple coneflower (Echinacea purpurea) whose large blooms, to about 4.5 inches across, open a cool lime-green with rounded petals, then elongate and flush pale purple-magenta toward the center as a richly purple cone develops. A well-branched plant around 30 to 36 inches tall, it flowers from mid to late summer with sporadic bloom until frost. The long-lasting, color-shifting flowers are excellent for fresh or dried cutting and attract pollinators. It is grown in full sun and average, well-drained soil as a distinctive green-flowered novelty.
