About Magnus
Magnus is the classic purple coneflower (Echinacea purpurea) and one of the most influential perennials of its era, named the Perennial Plant Association Plant of the Year in 1998. An upright, clump-forming plant 2.5 to 3.5 feet tall on sturdy stems that rarely need staking, it bears large daisy-like flowers to about 5 inches across, with non-drooping rose-pink to rose-purple rays around an orange-brown cone. It blooms through midsummer, tolerates dry to medium soils in full sun, and its seed heads feed birds and add winter interest. It remains a benchmark garden and cut-flower coneflower.
