About Chancellor
Chancellor, also known as Seibel 7053, was produced by French viticulturist Albert Seibel around 1860 as a cross of Seibel 5163 and Seibel 880. It was once widely planted in France for table wine production and is now grown almost exclusively in the United States and Canada, where it does not perform well in humid, hot areas with low ventilation. Among French-American hybrid wine grapes, its wine quality ranks among the better varieties.
