About Chelois
Chelois, also known as Seibel 10878, was bred in France by Albert Seibel and released in the United States in 1948. It is a cross of Seibel 5163 and Seibel 5593 (Bienvenu x Roi des noirs). Its wine quality ranks highly among the French-American hybrids, and interest in the variety saw a resurgence in the early 1990s as consumer interest in red wine increased again.
