About Frontenac

Frontenac is a very cold-hardy red wine grape from the University of Minnesota, bred with a hardy strain of the wild riverbank grape (Vitis riparia). Its intensely sweet, high-acid dark fruit makes deeply colored wine, and the vine is famously disease-resistant and productive. A backbone variety for cold-climate vineyards.
