About Scuppernong

Named for the Scuppernong River in northeastern North Carolina, where it was selected from the wild; it is the official state fruit of North Carolina. The oldest muscadine cultivar, its mother vine is planted on Roanoke Island and is several hundred years old and still producing. It was the first named variety of bronze muscadine released by the University of Georgia.
