About Seyval Blanc

Seyval Blanc is the most successful of a series of French hybrid grapes developed by Bertille Seyve and Victor Villard in the mid-20th century. As a hybrid, it is not permitted in EU quality wine production. Grown in Area 1, it produces yellow-white fruit used for white wine and may be susceptible to Pierce's disease. It has been used as a parent variety in later crossings, including Chardonel, Phoenix, and Cayuga.
