About Stover

Stover is a hybrid cultivar developed by the University of Florida's breeding program at the Leesburg Agricultural Research Center. It was developed by Loren Stover, known as Florida's 'Mr. Grape,' in 1956 to resist Pierce's disease and other fungal issues common in Florida's humid climate. The golden-fruited, long-lived variety is often grafted on 'Tampa', 'Lake Emerald', 'Florilush', or 'Dog Ridge' rootstock and is noted for improved dessert and holding qualities.
