jocote tronador

Jocote tronador is a traditional Salvadoran and Guatemalan landrace of purple mombin (Spondias purpurea), grown alongside other local jocote varieties such as jocote de chapin, jocote de succaron, and jocote turco. Spondias purpurea is native to the tropical dry forests of western Mesoamerica, from southern Mexico to northern Costa Rica. In Guatemala, jocote tronador is said to be nearly equal in quality to jocote de corona, which is considered of superior quality.
