About Quedlinburger Niederliegende
Quedlinburger Niederliegende is a German lemon balm (Melissa officinalis) selection long valued in commercial herb production for its high essential-oil and citronellal content and its powerful lemon aroma. Its name reflects its habit and origin: low-lying and procumbent in the first year around the town of Quedlinburg, becoming more upright in later years, with ovate, toothed bright green leaves. It is grown from seed and prized for oil production as well as for a strongly fragrant, naturally mosquito-repellent planting. As a classic lemon-scented type it makes an excellent, aromatic herbal tea.
