Liriope 'Super Blue'

Liriope 'Super Blue' is a clumping evergreen groundcover with narrow, arching, dark green strap leaves and upright violet-blue flower spikes in late summer. Liriope muscari 'Super Blue' is planted for bed edging, walkway borders, and shady ground under trees where turfgrass gives up, with small black berries following the bloom. Set it in anything from full sun to deep shade in moist, well-drained soil; flowering is heaviest with some sun, and growth slows in deep shade. Plants reach about 12 to 18 inches tall and about as wide, are hardy in USDA zones 5 through 10, and tolerate heat, drought once established, and salt spray. Mow or shear the old foliage in late winter before new growth starts. Species lilyturf flowers range from lavender to white; this selection is grown for its deep violet-blue spikes.
