'Fairchild #1' canistel originated in Florida. The fruit is bright yellow orange inside and out and weighs 4 to 13 ounces with 1 to 7 seeds. Season is September to October. The pulp is moist and, when ripe, soft and creamy, resembling a cooked egg yolk and giving the fruit its nickname, the egg fruit. Eating quality is good.
