About Pineapple Mint
Pineapple Mint is a variegated cultivar of apple mint, Mentha suaveolens Variegata, grown for both its ornamental cream-edged foliage and its mild, fruity fragrance with a hint of pineapple. The soft, woolly, rounded green leaves are irregularly margined and splashed with creamy white, making it one of the most decorative mints and a popular choice for containers, borders, and edible landscaping. It grows 1 to 2 feet tall with a somewhat less aggressive spread than green mints and bears white flower spikes attractive to pollinators. The gentle flavor suits fruit salads, drinks, and garnishes. Hardy in USDA zones 5 to 11, it is propagated from cuttings or division because the variegation does not come true from seed. Pineapple Mint is prized mainly for its striking variegated leaves and light, sweet aroma.
