About Marathon

Marathon is an early season mandarin developed by the UF/IFAS breeding team led by Fred Gmitter. UF/IFAS researchers made the parental cross that led to Marathon in 2004, and growers were expected to be able to place orders for Marathon trees in late 2019. It is easy to peel and is somewhat tolerant to greening (Huanglongbing, HLB), continuing to produce a marketable crop after infection.
