About Owari
Owari is the most popular satsuma variety and is generally available at retail outlets or online from citrus nurseries. It is of ancient and unknown Japanese origin, presumably from the old province of Owari, whence the name. It was received as seed from H.B. Frost, a seedling from the Rubidoux Tract old-line Satsuma, Riverside, CA, in 1916; parents are unknown. The first recorded introduction into the United States was in Florida by George R. Hall in 1876.
