European

European oregano (Origanum vulgare) is native to Europe, Central Asia, the Mediterranean, and North Africa. Plants grow 6 inches to 3 feet tall and 1 to 2 feet wide. Compared to Mexican oregano, the European type has a much milder flavor, though the two are used the same way in cooking.
