About McMillan
McMillan is a seedling from Baldwin County, Alabama, and a Type II cultivar recommended for trial, averaging 51 nuts per pound and 50 percent kernel with a scab rating of 1 and a harvest date around October 12. It was planted in orchards in 2002 and bore its first crop in 2005; its first heavy yielding year was 2009 (year 8), with many limbs bending down from the crop. Nut quality has not been good enough to recommend it as a main cultivar in a commercially managed orchard.
