About Sumner
Sumner was a seedling discovered in Tifton, Georgia in about 1932 by Walter Sumner. Common characteristics as well as DNA evidence suggest that the Schley cultivar may be a parent of Sumner. It is a Type II cultivar recommended for Georgia and is a commonly-found cultivar currently recommended for yard-tree plantings.
