About Asha (ICPL 87119)

Asha (ICPL 87119) is ICRISAT landmark medium-duration pigeonpea, released for central and south India in 1992 as the first medium-duration variety to combine resistance to both of the crop most devastating diseases, fusarium wilt and sterility mosaic. Bred from a C 11 cross, it is high-yielding, about 20 percent over the old standard C 11, widely adapted, and bears large brown seeds well suited to dal. It has become one of the most widely grown pigeonpeas in India.
