Maruti (ICP 8863)

Maruti (ICP 8863) is a medium-duration ICRISAT pigeonpea selected from an Uttar Pradesh landrace and released in 1986 for Karnataka, after which it became hugely popular across peninsular India. It carries such a high level of fusarium wilt resistance that it was released without the usual yield trials, though it is susceptible to sterility mosaic. The semi-spreading plant yields well in both dry and wet seasons.
