About Golden Purslane

Golden Purslane is a popular cultivated form of Portulaca oleracea with large, light golden-green leaves carried on an upright plant reaching roughly 10 to 18 inches, far more erect than the prostrate wild species. Its flavor is mild and succulent, with little difference from green-leaved forms beyond a faint lemony tang, making it versatile raw or cooked. Heat-loving and frost-sensitive, it is direct-sown into warm soil and kept consistently moist for tender growth. The upright habit makes harvesting far easier than stooping over wild purslane.
