About Red Gruner
Red Gruner is a cultivated purslane (Portulaca oleracea) distinguished by upright, red-tinted stems and large, soft, fleshy green leaves that are bigger and meatier than the wild species. Juicy and tasty with a citric quality that sets it apart from common weedy purslane, it shines raw or as microgreens. It germinates in about 4 to 14 days in warm soil around 75 to 85 F from light-dependent surface-sown seed, and grows best in fertile, compost-amended soil with steady moisture and mulch at 6 to 8 inch spacing. Pick regularly for continuous cut-and-come-again production.
