About Chandler Strawberry
Chandler is a June-bearing strawberry released by the University of California in 1983 and long a leading variety in California and the southeastern United States, especially for the plasticulture systems used on the East Coast. It produces large, firm, wedge-shaped berries with a glossy bright red skin and a sweet, rich flavor well suited to fresh markets and pick-your-own. The vigorous plants yield heavily and adapt to annual hill culture in mild-winter regions. Chandler's combination of large attractive fruit, excellent flavor and high productivity made it a commercial standard for years and a favorite for u-pick farms, where its size and taste draw customers. It remains widely grown in warm-winter climates.
