Earliglow

Earliglow is an early-season June-bearing strawberry released by the USDA in 1975 and long regarded as one of the best-flavored strawberries ever bred. It ripens very early, producing medium-sized, glossy, deep red berries with an outstanding sweet, aromatic taste that sets the standard for dessert quality. The plants are vigorous and hardy, sending out plentiful runners to fill a matted row. While the berries are somewhat smaller than modern commercial types and the yield more modest, gardeners grow Earliglow specifically for its exceptional flavor and its resistance to red stele and Verticillium wilt. It remains a benchmark variety for home gardeners in the eastern and midwestern United States who prize taste above all.
