About leucocarpus

Variety leucocarpus becomes a large tree to 65 feet (20 m) high in Brazil, with fruits that have white flesh; it is not as common as the red-fleshed type. Eugenia brasiliensis (grumichama) is native to the Atlantic Rainforest of coastal southern Brazil, from Parana and Santa Catarina to Minas Gerais and Rio Grande do Sul. Fully ripe fruit is pleasant to eat out of hand, and in Hawaii half-ripe fruit is made into pie, jam, or jelly.
