About King Edward VII

King Edward VII is a classic grandiflora sweet pea (Lathyrus odoratus) dating to the early 1900s, valued for its fragrant, flame-crimson flowers carried three to four per stem. Robust and taller than most grandifloras at roughly 1.5 to 1.8 metres, it is a strong-growing climbing annual with the rich, sweet scent typical of the old heirlooms. Grow it in full sun in moist but well-drained soil with sturdy support, cutting the blooms often to extend the season. A bold red for the traditional cottage garden.
