Matucana

Matucana is a celebrated old-fashioned sweet pea (Lathyrus odoratus), a vigorous heirloom bearing bicolored flowers with maroon to deep-crimson standards and violet wings, up to about four per stem. It is frequently ranked among the most powerfully perfumed of all sweet peas, with a rich, sweet scent. A climbing annual reaching roughly 1.5 to 2.5 metres, it is more heat-tolerant than most and heavy-blooming, excellent on a trellis or in a container and prized as a cut flower. Grow it in sun and rich, well-drained soil.
