About Painted Lady
Painted Lady is one of the oldest sweet peas (Lathyrus odoratus), an antique heirloom grown since the 1700s, with charming bicolored blooms of a deep-rose standard over pale rose-pink wings and a whitish keel. It carries a rich, old-fashioned sweet scent and often begins flowering earlier than many other sweet peas. A vigorous climbing annual reaching about 6 to 8 feet, it is more heat-tolerant than most and easy on a support in full sun and rich, well-drained soil. A living piece of garden history.
