Vardaman

Vardaman is a bush-type orange sweet potato named for the Mississippi town known as the sweet potato capital, and it is prized by home gardeners with limited space. Unlike the long, sprawling vines of most varieties, Vardaman grows in a more compact, semi-bush habit that stays contained, making it well suited to smaller gardens and raised beds. It produces golden-skinned roots with deep reddish-orange flesh that is sweet and moist when cooked. The attractive foliage emerges purple and matures to green, adding ornamental value. Vardaman offers a full-flavored orange sweet potato harvest without the space demands of rambling vines, making it a favorite for compact and intensive planting situations.
