About Navashree
Navashree is a true cinnamon (Cinnamomum verum) selection developed by the Indian Institute of Spices Research. In a 1990-95 evaluation at Peruvannamuzhi, Kerala, it was selected for shoot regeneration, bark yield and quality. The breeder profile describes strong shoot regrowth, light-brown dry bark and young shoots that change from light purple to green in 8-10 days. It lists three years to first harvest and recommends the selection for Indian cinnamon-growing regions. These observations do not establish performance in Florida.
