About IISR Pragati

IISR Pragati is a high-yielding, short-duration turmeric released in 2017 by ICAR-Indian Institute of Spices Research, Kozhikode, developed as a pure-line selection from germplasm (accession 48). It matures in about 180 days and produces orange-fleshed rhizomes yielding around 38 t/ha fresh, with a potential of up to 52 t/ha. Valued for stable, high-quality spice across growing regions, it carries roughly 5 percent curcumin and over 15 percent oleoresin, and is moderately resistant to root-knot nematode. It is recommended across Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka and Chhattisgarh.
