Prabha

Prabha is a high-yielding, value-added turmeric released by ICAR-IISR in 1996 as an open-pollinated progeny selection, adapted all over India. It matures in about 200 to 205 days and yields roughly 37 t/ha of reddish-yellow rhizomes with reddish-brown scales, backed by one of the highest dry recoveries of the IISR set at nearly 19.5 percent. Its spice quality is excellent, with curcumin around 6.5 percent and oleoresin near 15 percent. It has been reported free of disease incidence in farmers fields.
