About Suguna
Suguna is a short-duration turmeric released by ICAR-IISR in 1991, selected from germplasm accession PCT-13 collected in Andhra Pradesh and recommended for Kerala and Andhra Pradesh. Maturing in about 190 days, it produces orange rhizomes averaging near 29 t/ha with a potential above 60 t/ha and a strong dry recovery around 20 percent. Its spice profile carries roughly 4.9 percent curcumin, 13.5 percent oleoresin and 6 percent essential oil. Suguna is moderately tolerant to rhizome rot and leaf blotch, useful where those diseases press.
