About Suroma

Suroma is a long-duration turmeric developed at the High Altitude Research Station, OUAT, Pottangi, Odisha, under the ICAR spices network. Maturing in roughly 255 days, it yields about 20 t/ha of fresh rhizomes but is distinguished by an exceptionally high dry recovery near 26 percent, among the best of any Indian turmeric, which makes it very efficient for dried-spice production. It carries curcumin around 6.1 percent with oleoresin near 13 percent. It belongs to the noted Pottangi group of high-recovery, high-curcumin selections.
