About Buccaneer
Buccaneer is a Dutch-bred English walnut cultivar valued for its heavy, reliable cropping and its usefulness as a pollinizer in cooler European climates. It is notably productive and comes into bearing relatively young, producing good crops of medium-sized, well-flavored nuts. Buccaneer is largely self-fertile and sheds abundant pollen over a long period, so it is often planted to pollinate other cultivars as well as to crop in its own right. It tolerates the cooler, damper conditions of northern Europe better than many warm-climate types, giving it good disease tolerance in those settings.
