About Jubilee

Jubilee, sometimes called Florida Giant, is a large oblong watermelon released by the University of Florida in 1963 and bred for high yields and disease resistance in humid growing regions. It became a major commercial variety in the southeastern United States. The elongated fruit features light green rind with dark green stripes and bright red, sweet flesh. Jubilee was specifically developed with resistance to fusarium wilt and anthracnose, making it dependable in areas where these diseases are common. It is an open-pollinated variety popular with both commercial growers and home gardeners who want big, classic striped watermelons and are willing to give the vigorous vines a long, warm season.
