Misty is a 1989 University of Florida southern highbush that travelled well beyond commercial Florida fields largely because of how it looks: hot pink flower buds set against dark green foliage give it real ornamental standing, and UC variety notes single it out for landscape use. It is very vigorous and upright, and it flowers and fruits so freely that the standard advice attached to it is to stop it overbearing - young plants in particular will pour everything into flower and fruit and stall vegetatively unless pruned hard. Mississippi State recommends it for southern Mississippi with 'Biloxi' as its pollenizer, ripening in late April, and notes its berries are light in colour with a good scar and good firmness. In California it typically throws a very heavy early crop and then a small second harvest in autumn. Hartmann's, the nursery that commercialised it, lists ripening at Gainesville on 1-3 May, about four days behind 'Sharpblue'.
