About Ruby Star

Ruby Star, also known by its original German name Rubinstern, is a robust seed-raised purple coneflower (Echinacea purpurea) selected for uniform, intensely colored flowers. Growing 2 to 3.5 feet tall with dark green lanceolate leaves, it bears large daisy-like blooms whose carmine-red to magenta-red rays are held nearly horizontally around a big, dark bronze-brown cone. It flowers long from June to August and thrives in full sun and average, dry-to-medium, well-drained soil. Vigorous and reliable, it is excellent massed in borders, meadows and native or wildflower plantings.
